After now twenty-five movies and counting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Black Widow was one I have been waiting on and excited to see it finally become a movie! Scarlett Johansson's portrayal of Natasha Romanoff has been one for the ages and I have been so excited to see her role grow within the Marvel Universe. Scarlett has given in what I believe a flawless performance in every movie she played the part of Black Widow and I have been wanting to see more of her character since her first appearance in Iron Man 2!
Being part of the group of people asking for a solo Black Widow movie, I was beyond excited when finally announced, and counting down the days to be able to watch what I could only assume since the events of Endgame be her final appearance in the Marvel movies, which I hold on hope that may be wishful thinking that they find a way to bring her back in some capacity.
Another movie that suffered the shutdown of covid, being delayed not twice, but three times, I was getting anxious to see it! Also, let it be known that I was not a fan of the Premier access! Streaming movies is just not the same of going to see it on the big screen! A whole different vibe and I want to get out! I hated being locked up unless it was going to work!
After finally coming out on July 7th, I planned a day to go and finally see this long awaited movie and with no surprise, I loved it! Scarlett Johannsson never disappoints me with her portrayal of the Black Widow! It was also very comedic at times and amazing action scenes!
To have only one veteran character in a movie tends to be very risky when considering it to be the twenty-fourth movie in the Marvel franchise, but they made it work! I did not even miss the inclusion of other veteran characters. The introduction of the new characters was amazingly placed, and not once did I have any questions as to where they came from. The storyline did amazing in answering every question while also giving us more into the backstory of Natasha Romanoff that we have only previously gotten pieces and implications as to what happened with her before S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Avengers!
Florence Pugh's part in the MCU, I can only assume will be taking Natasha's place in The Avengers in later movies with how the events played out and her future within other projects makes me interested to see her grow! She had a comedic touch as good as Natasha's and I am interested to see her having a bigger role in projects to come!
Despite the loads negative reviews that came Black Widow's way and the negative people urging people to not watch it, this writer urges all the readers, today to make your own opinion and watch the movie! It was an astonishing addition to a great franchise, and I look forward to the upcoming new characters intro to the Universe!
I know there are certain touches that went against the comics, but please tell me what comic movie followed the comics exactly? That has always been a complaint, and it has never stopped movies from soaring the charts! There is a reason credits read "Based On" based means inspired by it is not going to be a carbon copy of where it came from and as a writer, I welcome different inputs and the diverse ways to tell a story!
This movie by far is one of my favorites from this franchise and I will love watching it repeatedly!
