I would be lying if I said I was on board for another Fast and Furious movie. When the first trailer came out, I was intrigued and curious as to how they were going to tell yet another tale in this saga. But with the long wait to see this installment, came rumors of what was going to happen and slowly I was losing interest. Yet, I knew I was going to go see it because I cannot leave things unfinished. Knowing there was more and if I didn't see it, it would drive me crazy. So, I decided to go ahead and return to the movies to watch it.
I was late getting on the band wagon of this saga. It was not until, the sixth movie that I decided to go ahead and watch them. I mean, of course I started from the beginning, and I was hooked. Though I did not like the third movie, Tokyo Drift, I was not only confused but bored. It did make sense after the sixth movie though, but it's still not my favorite. which does get me a lot of heat of those who are also fans of the series.
Moving on through the Saga and watching the story unfold, it did start making more sense though as I found out that all the movies until Furious 7 is prequels to Tokyo Drift, but even knowing that it is still not my favorite. It just has a whole different vibe to me than the rest.
Furious Seven though is my favorite still of the saga, as it has a more connection to the word "family", even though it was Paul Walker's final appearance in the franchise it is still my favorite!
Moving on after Furious 7 we come to The Fate of the Furious. The eighth movie that received a major amount of heat from fans and I understand why. Although, to me it had a remarkable story it did not have Paul and some people felt it was disrespectful. But even Vin Diesel said that seven was for Paul and Eight is from Paul. So, I got on board after he said that because I understood it.
When they announced two more movies I was not on board, because I felt eight gave it a great closing and I just couldn't picture a new story, and I just didn't want another movie without Paul in this franchise, I felt like his character is very important to the team, so at first I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch F9, but I knew if I didn't it might bug me leaving things unfinished, but as teasers kept coming, I was getting more and more off board for another movie. I had incredibly low hopes with it being good. That did, however, that did change a little with the release of the trailer. I thought, well maybe there is a chance of it being good. So, I was on board to go ahead and see it in theaters instead of waiting for the Blu-ray release.
After the shutdown from Covid F9 got delayed and delayed and I started getting really annoyed of not being able to go to the theaters, because I love movies, and I enjoy getting out of the house. after the shutdown, I was just starting to feel down because I love exploring and suddenly it was just home and work for two years and work was a mad house because I am a retail worker so the abuse from customers took a whole new meaning. So increasingly I just wanted to get away, so when this movie finally came out in July, I was super excited to finally go back to the theaters I made it a double feature and went to see another movie right after this one.
Anyway, after watching F9, I am so glad I decided to see it. It was such a great storyline and surprises it kept me attached to the movie the entire time and I loved how they continue to honor Paul Walker's legacy in such subtle ways.
I was even more excited for the return of Jordana Brewster as I love her character as well and was very sad when she wasn't going to come back, so I was excited to see her back and how they write her character back into the story and they did amazing with the addition of John Cena's character's introduction into the story. One of the many interesting surprises within the movie, I will not say who his character is even though it revealed it in the trailer, but some people don't like to watch them, so I don't want to spoil anything, but it was an awesome new character. I do hope to see him return in the final two films, as they did decide to do a two-part finale with the franchise, so I am ready to see them finally close the saga!
So, after the epic ninth movie into the saga, I cannot wait to see the story's ending in the final two-parter! Hopefully, we do not have to wait so long for it as we did with the ninth. As for my closing, for fellow fans of the saga that chose not to watch the movie, I do recommend giving it a chance and form your own opinion of it, it may surprise you. I know there is still some bad reviews, but not everything can be liked by everyone and some of those reviews didn’t give it a good chance and went in angry and just let their anger set their opinion, maybe not but I thought it was a great movie and it did once again honor Brian in a very subtle way!
