Watching the Monsterverse unfold in the last seven years has been very interesting indeed. At first, I was not very interested in watching any of these movies because the originals were just awful. They did not pique my interest at all moving forward.
But two years after the release of Kong Skull Island, I decided to watch just that movie and see just how it was. I had no intention of watching the other movies until Kong kept my interest the entire time! It told a real story and brought just the right amount of action and destruction that would entail in a movie about a giant gorilla. So, after watching Kong Skull Island, I decided to go ahead and watch Godzilla, just in time for Godzilla King of Monsters and it was not at all cheesy or stupid.
It brought to life a creature that I would expect from a dinosaur like species. Nothing looked fake, the CGI was mastered and just done beautifully. The actors brought a masterful performance, and it just had an amazing feeling that you should get from an action movie with monsters involved!
Moving onto Godzilla: King of Monsters, in my honest opinion it brought the same level of action, great CGI work and an amazing overall story. It brought back some character favorites of the originals, if you did like the originals. My interest did falter a little when I heard of what Creatures were coming into play in this movie, because computers aren't always friendly when using it to create characters.
But I was not at all disappointed moving forward with the movie. A movie I will watch again. In fact, these movies are great and kind of important to watch again. So much happens and some may not stick in your head if you watch it only once.
With the great work of storytelling, it made me more thrilled in what else is to come in the franchise. Even after watching Godzilla Vs. Kong, though no real announcement has been made, I'd like to see what more stories can they come up with if they do in fact decide to move forward.
Moving on after King of Monsters, I was super excited to see Godzilla Vs. Kong unfold, but due to unforeseen complications the wait happened to be longer than anticipated. Though when it finally did come out, I was thrilled to get to go back to the theaters and see it.
Though my expectations were low, because I wasn't exactly sure how they would be able to merge both character's stories and bring them together to the point of an "epic" showdown from two giant monsters.
After watching the movie, I must commend the writers for doing such a better job than the original movie that I couldn't even finish. So epic, amazing storytelling and fit together like a puzzle piece. Just like always, even before the movie came out my side always seems to be the least likely. As in most would say Godzilla would win, because how can a Giant gorilla with no ability like fire breath be able to defeat the one who does have those abilities. However, I believed Kong would win, because I like underdog stories, where the least likely winner prevails, it probably is because it has a more meaningful story with things that happen in real life, if that is what happens!
Now, I of course cannot confirm nor deny what happened, for that you'll have to watch the movie and find out. But rest assured the wait was worth it. The movie is so well done and exceeded expectations and I have already watched it more than twice. My favorite one out of the franchise so far.
Now, I do hope there are more movies to come in the franchise because they have been doing so well, but if they decide not to move forward, I am satisfied if they don't. It's just one of those movies that they do leave open but closed at the same time in case no sequel is made. A must watch for all monster lovers! Or even just love action and want a new franchise to watch!
