Darkness unfolds once again in Gotham as the long awaited Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ is finally released! The Batman brings Robert Pattinson dawning the infamous cowl, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, the beautiful and stunning Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth. Each bringing a special flare to their perspective characters like never before seen in Live Action!
This near three hour movie takes hold of movie goers and Batman fans around the world. Nearly ten years since we have seen a solo Batman movie on screens and only a year since we last saw Batman a lot of people had their doubts of yet another reboot. Being one of the doubters, I still was willing to give it a chance because we tend to always have doubts when a new actor takes over the role of one our favorite characters, but almost always left speechless by their performance.
Robert Pattinson without a doubt is a great actor, but like every actor there is some roles that just don’t fit, and when he was announced as the new Batman, I had doubts because I just couldn’t see it being a good fit and being a Batman fan since the age of two, I worry when there might be a potentially bad adaptation, but never have I been more wrong! Robert Pattinson brought it to this character bringing a darkness like never before seen. This doesn’t undo the greatness brought from previous actors as they all have done great with what they were given but being one of the darkest characters in the DC universe we tend to always miss that touch that is needed to portray this character. Robert did great with portraying the mentality of a distraught character who lives in a corrupt city that led to his parents being murdered. I’m not sure if previous actors or the studios were just too scared or doubting approaching that level of performance, but I can honestly say that I am excited to see more from Robert Pattinson and seeing what else he has to bring to the character! The costume looked awesome, but I doubted the cowl but it’s starting to grow on me!
The Batman takes us on a ride through the Corrupt city of Gotham. Our Dark Knight friend does his very best to bring justice to those that deserve it, while fighting darkness of his own.
Secrets hidden from him since he was a child begins to unsurface leaving him to question everything he knows.
Though I probably wouldn't have done such a long movie and crammed so many villains in the first movie, and give us a little more introduction to this adaptation, I absolutely loved it and ended up going to the movies four times just to watch it! It is one of those movies that respects fans like me and keeps me coming back for more!
